Moving is one of the most stressful, opaque purchases most households make. Quotes swing by thousands of dollars, “binding” estimates aren't always binding, and a small number of rogue carriers hold belongings hostage every year. MovingRated exists to make that decision legible. For every state we publish:
- Real cost ranges by home size and distance, sourced from AMSA Tariff 400-N, FMCSA filings, and BTS data — not a quote form.
- The state's licensing and regulatory rules, with the primary-source links (state PUC/DOT, FMCSA) to verify any mover yourself.
- Relocation deadline timelines, paperwork checklists, and planning tools covering the steps a move actually requires.
- City-level and topic guides on interstate logistics, DIY versus full-service trade-offs, and consumer protection rights.
